Police say California car fire is a possible arson where accelerant was doused by unknown suspect

On Wednesday, February 7th, at approximately 10:34 pm, Petaluma Police Officers and the Petaluma Fire Department responded to a distress call, racing to the 1400 block of South McDowell Blvd where a vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Upon arrival, Petaluma Fire Department Investigators discovered indications of accelerant possibly utilized on the charred remains of a 2000 silver Acura, as depicted in the image above.

Intriguingly, surveillance footage obtained shortly after the incident revealed a white male adult parking the Acura before departing in an unidentified red sedan just moments before the flames erupted, police said.
