On February 14, 2024, a 14-year-old male student was arrested for manufacturing firearms using a 3D printer. The arrest was made by the Santa Rosa Police Department following a search at the student’s residence on Summer Creek Drive, Santa Rosa. Detectives found a 3D printer, parts of a firearm, ammunition, and items associated with gang activity.
The student, who is enrolled at Montgomery High School, was at school when the search took place. Detectives, worried about the student’s potential access to firearms, went to the school. A teacher was asked to remove the student from class, and he was taken into custody without any issues.

The student is facing several charges, including possession of an unregistered firearm, minor in possession of a handgun, illegal manufacture of a firearm, and involvement in gang-related activities. The Santa Rosa Police Department is handling the case, under case number 24-1832.
