Embezzlement Investigation at Old Adobe School in Sonoma Complete

Sonoma County Sheriff’s detectives have finished their embezzlement investigation into a preschool. They found that 15-thousand dollars had been withdrawn “fraudulently and for personal gain” by an employee at the Old Adobe School in Sonoma. The suspect, who has not been named publicly, admitted that she used a “credit card linked to the school” and that “charges were made inadvertently.” She was also found to have continued to pay herself normal working hours for time that she had clocked as vacation, personal and sick time. An analysis of Old Adobe School’s financial records revealed more than $13,000 in withdrawals from the school’s account as well as $5,100 of unauthorized credit charges. The district attorney’s office will now consider whether there is enough evidence to pursue criminal charges.
