District 2 Assembly race between Chris Rogers and Rusty Hicks still too close to call

The largest release of Sonoma County ballots since Election Day did little Friday to change the contours of the state Assembly District 2 primary race, where Santa Rosa City Councilman Chris Rogers leads his closet challenger, California Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks, by 2,549 total votes, according to the latest districtwide tally.

In the latest results posted by the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters — which added 23,895 ballots to its tally Friday — Rogers gained 2,160 votes, while Hicks added 1,104. Their districtwide positions remained virtually unchanged; Rogers is holding onto 20.6% of the total vote and Hicks has 18.3%.

More than 40,000 ballots remain uncounted across several counties in the North Coast district, including more than 20,000 in Sonoma County…
