Competency Being Reviewed for Suspect in Fatal Stabbing Case

A Santa Rosa man accused of stabbing his sister-in-law to death will undergo a competency review. On April 12th, Varinder Singh’s lawyer questioned his client’s ability to assist in his own defense. As a result, proceedings in the case have been suspended until a psychiatrist evaluates Singh and turns in a report by May 6th. Singh is accused of fatally stabbing Kuljeet Kaur 37 times in April of 2022 in their home in southwest Santa Rosa. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
