Standoff on I-80 in Fairfield resolved, some eastbound lanes remain closed, suspect dead

( KRON ) — Both directions of I-80 were shut down in Fairfield for hours on Friday due to a police standoff. At about 6:45 p.m., the standoff was resolved and westbound lanes of traffic reopened.

The northbound I-680 transition to I-80 has reopened as well. Eastbound I-80 remains closed.

I-80 was closed at the Green Valley Road-I-680 interchange due to the standoff with a potentially armed suspect, the California Highway Patrol said. Traffic will be severely backed up as lanes reopen.

CHP would not confirm any information about the condition of the suspect.

Around 11 a.m. Friday, there was a shooting on the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in the Windsor area, according to the CHP. A black SUV was shot, but nobody was hit, CHP Officer David deRutte told KRON4.
