Iconic Stone House in Santa Rosa Reopening Soon as an Inn

Santa Rosa’s iconic Stone House on Sonoma Highway is just about ready to welcome guests. The Press Democrat reports that after six months of interior construction work on the 115-year-old building, the owners hope to start welcoming visitors by the end of this month. An open house is also expected after some minor touch ups inside are completed. The Stone House was first built in 1909 by Massimo Galeazzi, a skilled Italian stonemason. It was first used as a boarding house for young men and later used as a hotel, grocery store, tavern, speakeasy, “sanitarium” for tuberculosis patients, and topless bar. Most recently it was the home of Athena House, a substance abuse treatment center for women.
