The deputy’s involvement in the 2022 fatal shooting of farmworker David Peláez-Chavez has sparked controversy and ongoing investigations. The Peláez-Chavez family has filed a federal civil suit against Sonoma County, and the Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review (IOLERO) is still investigating the incident.
