Drug Bust in Russell Avenue Results in Two Arrests But a Third Suspect Remains at Large

Santa Rosa police have broken up a drug operation and arrested two convicted felons. In a raid on a home in the 900 block of Russell Avenue, officers found a stash of illegal drugs, including psilocybin mushrooms, and two unregistered firearms. A 42-year-old Santa Rosa man, Tony Smith Jr. was hiding in the rafters of a garage and taken into custody. He and 35-year-old Scott Stone face multiple charges, including drug possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police are still searching for the homeowner, 64-year-old Benjamin “Benny” Mares, who is suspected of being involved in the drug trade.
