Roads open after hazmat spill in West Santa Rosa

( KRON ) – The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) informed residents that the roads are clear after a hazmat spill that caused multiple lane closures on North Dutton Avenue on Saturday morning, according to the department.

According to Santa Rosa PD, the spill occurred when several plastic tote containers, each holding about 275 gallons of liquid, fell from a truck. Several roads intersecting with North Dutton Avenue, including Trowbridge, Hewitt, and W 9th Streets, were closed.

A sample of liquids obtained and tested by the SRFD (Santa Rosa Fire Department) Haz-Mat Team found that the fluids were a mixture of various liquids including diesel, gasoline, oil and transmission fluid.

By approximately 2:00 p.m., all roadways were reopened, although a single lane closure remained in effect on North Dutton Avenue at Hewett Street. Investigators reported that the largest spill took place on North Dutton Avenue, though they did not specify the number of gallons involved.
