(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol Napa County Area office said a juvenile passenger died in a two-vehicle, head-on crash in Pope Valley on Friday afternoon. Authorities suspect that the driver was under the influence at the time of the collision.

CHP said the incident happened at 4:40 p.m. in the area of Chiles Pope Valley Road near Barnett Road.
CHP said the cars involved were a 2013 Nissan Sentra and a 2010 Toyota Corolla, which was occupied by the juvenile.
CHP confirmed that the Toyota driver, identified as Aaron Kennedy Alvarez, suffered major injuries and was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. He was placed under arrest at the hospital for suspected DUI. CHP did not provide any details on the relation between the deceased juvenile and Alvarez.
