Thirty students — including 10 members of Sonoma Valley High School’s class of 2025 — successfully completed a medical assistant training program offered by Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, CalRegional and Petaluma Adult School in June.
The program — which provided tuition-free instruction to qualified applicants — was designed to prepare students for entry-level roles in the health care field by equipping them with essential knowledge and hands-on experience. It was open to Sonoma Valley residents who are at least 18 years old who had a high school diploma or a GED.
Participants attended evening classes from April 7 to June 18 at the health center and now will receive 160 hours of classroom instruction, followed by 160 hours of externship training…
