Petaluma Police Nab Chico Man for Prowling and Drug Influence After Local Tips

On Wednesday in Petaluma, a man’s suspected illicit foray into private yards led to his arrest. According to a statement released by the Petaluma Police Department, Dan Coates, a 55-year-old Chico resident, was apprehended on suspicion of prowling, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. The incident unfolded just before midnight when police were tipped off by an attentive local about a person skulking through residential properties on Keokuk Street and Cherry Street.

Responding officers were swift to arrive, and soon located a suspect who matched the community member’s description; this encounter quickly spiraled into a confrontation wherein Coates initially resisted but was eventually subdued and arrested.
