Napa County officials push back on grand jury findings on winery permits

Napa County officials have pushed back on a civil grand jury report criticizing the winery use permit process, pushing back on many of the findings and declining to implement several of the report’s key recommendations.

In a 15-page response presented at Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, the county rejected or partially rejected all five of the findings in the report. They defended existing practices and procedures as fiscally responsible, appropriately transparent and consistent with state law.

But after multiple supervisors noted that they had questions about the responses, the board voted unanimously for staff to revise the responses to be brought back for consideration and comment at a future meeting…
