Video: Backdraft causes Santa Rosa roof to erupt in flames

(KRON) — A backdraft caused a fire burning in the attic of a Santa Rosa home to erupt Monday as firefighters entered through the garage, the Santa Rosa firefighters union said.

Video of the backdraft, seen in the player above, shows firefighters recoil from the explosion as bright flames burst from the roof of the home.

“A backdraft,” Santa Rosa Fire Fighters Local 1401 said on social media. “… As [firefighters] completed a ventilation hole, the backdraft in the attic forced flames through an attic scuttle and caused the ceiling to collapse in two rooms at the rear of the home.”

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Montclair Drive in eastern Santa Rosa around 3:15 a.m. All of the home’s residents escaped before firefighters arrived, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said…
