Rohnert Park’s Resynergi plastics recycling facility draws community pushback

A decadelong local effort to develop a faster and arguably more cost-effective and safer solution to the mounting global problem of plastic waste is aiming to start up its first processing facility in a large Rohnert Park commercial and residential development.

Resynergi Inc.’s goal is to show potential buyers that its module-based approach, using microwave energy rather than combustion, is a better way to break down plastic waste such as bags, bottles, caps and foam containers into chemical components that can be reused.
