Marin County supervisors are on the verge of buying a vacant lot in Point Reyes Station for a homeless shelter.
The acquisition, if approved at a meeting Tuesday, would help clear the way to house people being displaced by the National Park Service’s acquisition of 12 ranches in the Point Reyes National Seashore to better serve the area’s native tule elk.
Households on those ranches will be required to vacate by early next year, under a settlement between ranchers, environmentalists and the Park Service. The deal was a factor in the board’s declaration of a shelter crisis in March, according to the county…
