A new event sure to generate community interest will take place in Cotati at La Plaza Park on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Running Fence Run and Festival is named in honor of environmental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who were the visionaries behind the construction of the art piece Running Fence, completed on Sept. 10, 1976.

John Rose, Empire Runners Club director of sponsorship and promotion, presented the concept to the Cotati Parks and Recreation Department, which thought it sounded like a great idea.
