Two Lives Lost, Dozens Displaced in San Rafael Fire, Community and First Responders Rally in Support

A harrowing blaze swept through 516 Canal Street in San Rafael on August 21, prompting an urgent response from multiple fire agencies, including Marin County, and the local police. The San Rafael Police Department said the first responders were on the scene within minutes to evacuate residents and combat the flames. Unfortunately, amidst their valiant efforts, two lives were lost, and over 50 people were left without a home. The San Rafael Police Department also reported that one officer sustained injuries during the rescue but is anticipated to recover fully.
