Man arrested for stealing $15K check from Marin County Office of Education, sheriff’s office says

(KRON) — A Daly City man was arrested on Aug. 28 for stealing a check for $15,265.80 made out to a Marin County Office of Education Account, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Marin County Treasurer’s Office reported the check stolen out of the mail on June 7 and subsequently deposited into an unrecognized Chase bank account in San Francisco.

Following an investigation, authorities identified 20-year-old Rhod Robles as the suspect who deposited the check.

“The check was quickly flagged as fraudulent by Chase Bank and the treasurer’s office recouped the full amount of the check,” the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. “Robles was unable to withdraw the fraudulent funds before they were removed from his account by Chase Bank.”
