The Santa Rosa Police Department has taken its search for missing persons to the social sphere, boasting significant success. Garnering attention through a social media campaign dubbed “Missing Person Monday,” SRPD has shed light on cold cases that have long remained unsolved. As of January 2024, this initiative has shared 30 cases over six weeks, leveraging the power of online networks to unearth new leads and, in some instances, locate missing individuals directly.
The campaign’s results are noteworthy; following the first social media blitz, officials were able to locate five missing adults, with one case tracing back to 2005. The viability of this approach has led to an ongoing effort, now in its third iteration, according to an official statement by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
