Embattled Sonoma real estate developer involved in major solo crash

A Sonoma County real estate developer accused in a sprawling Ponzi scheme was involved in a violent crash near his home but walked away with “virtually no injuries,” a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

Kenneth Mattson was driving a 2025 GMC Sierra about 2:15 p.m. last Friday when he crashed into a gate and fence, then drove through a horse pasture and plowed into a tree, officials said.

The crash occurred on Vineyard Lane at Bartholomew Road near Mattson’s home on the outskirts of Sonoma. Just last year, FBI agents raided the gated Castle Rock home Mattson shares with his wife, Stacy Mattson. At the time of the crash, Mattson was out of custody on $4 million bail with pending federal charges…
