Last night, at about 9 pm, Novato Police Officers responded to a reported stabbing near the Circle K Gas Station (375 Ignacio Blvd). Officers located a 31-year-old man with a superficial stab wound. The victim, who was walking in the area, saw an unknown man and woman arguing. The arguing man saw the bystander looking at them and challenged him to fight. The man began to fight with the bystander, exchanging blows. The man took out a knife, causing the bystander to run away. The man followed the bystander, swung the knife at him, and struck him in the upper right chest, causing a minor wound.
A description of the suspect was broadcast via police radio to other officers. Within ten minutes, officers found the suspect near 551 Alameda Del Prado. The suspect fled and entered a nearby apartment. Officers then set up a perimeter around the apartment and requested mutual aid assistance from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers recognized the suspect as 38-year-old Anthony Pacheco, a Novato resident. Pacheco surrendered and was arrested at the apartment without incident. He was booked into the Marin County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and probation violation. The victim received medical aid and was released on the scene…
