A search and rescue team on a training exercise helped locate a 10-year-old boy who had gone missing on a trail in the Marin Headlands.
As 30 members of Marin County Search and Rescue were finishing rope operator training Saturday, a woman told them she had lost track of her son, who had run ahead of her on the coastal trail above Rodeo Beach, the team posted on Facebook. The crew contacted National Park Service rangers and coordinated a search of trails in the area.
About an hour into the search, a ranger on a dirt bike located the boy, who had climbed several hundred feet and traveled more than a mile, the team said. The boy, who has autism, was transported safely back to the incident command post and reunited with his mother…
