Napa drivers facing fines for cutting through parking lots to skip traffic lights

Motorists who slip through parking lots or side properties to avoid red lights and stop signs will soon face fines under a new Napa ordinance intended to curb dangerous shortcuts in California’s Wine Country.

The measure, enacted Friday, prohibits drivers from operating a vehicle on public or private property “for the purpose of bypassing official traffic control devices,” such as traffic signals and turn restrictions.

Officials said the rule applies even when no signs are posted on the property…
