Petaluma: Man Arrested For Allegedly Brandishing Machete At Petaluma River

A man who allegedly pulled out a machete on someone who confronted him for throwing trash in a Petaluma waterway was arrested Monday, according to police.

Calls came in reporting a man brandishing a weapon in the area of Water and Washington streets. One caller said the man was allegedly throwing trash into the Petaluma River when he was confronted by a community member. The suspect allegedly pulled out a weapon and threatened the person with it, police said.

The suspect, later identified as Petaluma resident Todd Simone, 58, allegedly refused to cooperate and attempted to walk away from the officer. Ultimately, Simone complied and was safely taken into custody, according to police…
