(KRON) — Petaluma police said an arson suspect was detained Tuesday at the scene of an active blaze in the River Plaza parking lot. The motive and circumstances behind the incident are not yet determined.

Police said officers arrived at the scene to investigate the report of a fire. “Upon arrival, officers observed an active fire that was still burning,” said police. “The suspect, identified as Abraham Jordan (49), was seen feeding the flames.”
The blaze was safely put out by fire investigators before flames could spread to any nearby homes, vehicles or businesses, confirmed police.
Jordan faces a charge of unlawfully causing a fire, according to investigators.
“Sonoma County has already experienced devastating losses to fires in previous years — we don’t need any more,” said police in a social media post. “We are grateful that our officers and fire investigators were able to respond quickly and prevent this fire from spreading.”…
