Sonoma County Announces Reopening of North Fitch Mountain Road After Long-Awaited Repairs

After a series of delays due to elaborate landslide repairs, Sonoma County officials have announced the reopening of North Fitch Mountain Road, slated for tomorrow at noon. This move will provide residents, emergency responders, and visitors with critical access, improvements in the works for several years.

The road had been the victim of multiple setbacks due to harsh weather conditions that had pummeled the area in recent winters. According to Sonoma County, two major failure points were addressed: the slump site, where the roadbed fell by 4 to 5 feet, and the slide site, which saw the collapse of a saturated slope. Suffering repeated landslides, the corridor’s damage was exacerbated by these adversities.
