SNAP recipients will lose their benefits starting November 1 due to the government shutdown. According to Marin Community Foundation, more than 15,000 Marin County residents rely on this vital assistance.
But there are already those within our community, including some of our local businesses, who have stepped up to help out those who will soon lose access to food. Here are three local businesses that are offering free food to SNAP recipients.
Businesses Offering Help
Tommy’s Salsa
Children 15 and under can receive a Little Amigo Burritos from November 1-15. To qualify, bring your SNAP card to the register.
Mill Valley Pasta Co.
Show up to any of MVP’s locations and let the cashier know that you’re “Picking up an order for Uncle Tony.”
Fire Swamp Provisions
Same as Mill Valley Pasta Co – visit the Fire Swamp Provisions’ farmer’s market stall (Thursday or Sunday) and use the same code: “I’m picking up an order for Uncle Tony.”
