Downtown Parking Changes Coming: Higher Rates in Busy Areas, More Free Spaces on the Edge Starting January 2026

On November 4, 2025, the Santa Rosa City Council approved updates to downtown parking fees and permit programs. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2026. The city aims to improve parking access, support local businesses, and maintain parking operations. The council made the decision after gathering feedback from more than 1,500 community members and local stakeholders.

The updates include a $1 increase to hourly meter rates in high-demand areas such as Old Courthouse Square and Railroad Square. The city expects this to encourage more frequent parking turnover.
