Yesterday, the Santa Rosa Police Department arrested a man after he purportedly vandalized a PG&E building on Stony Point Road. According to the SRPD News Release, alarm monitoring notified the authorities of suspicious activity at approximately 3:47 AM, prompting a quick response from local officers. They arrived to find a broken window and, upon entry, encountered a male subject later identified as Michael Owen, a 45-year-old transient from Santa Rosa, engaged in destructive behavior inside the facility.
The SRPD set up a perimeter and, through the shattered glass of what once insulated the nerve of our civic infrastructure, spotted Owen as he hurled objects in chaotic disarray, damaging the interior. The Communications Center maintained a line with the alarm company during the unfolding of the incident. SRPD officers successfully entered the building and took Owen into custody without incident.
Owen, known to law enforcement due to his current standing on misdemeanor probation, now faces multiple charges as conveyed by the SRPD. His destructive escapade led to significant material losses, with preliminary assessments putting the damage to the PG&E property between a heavy economic burden of $10,000 and $20,000, which included flooded carpets, shattered personal belongings, holes that resembled unwelcome gateways tearing through the walls, and the broken window that first evidenced his unwarranted visitation…
