Sebastopol man identified as $5 million California Lottery winner after months-long wait

The California Lottery identified a Sebastopol man as the winner of a $5 million Scratchers prize, nine months after he purchased the ticket on Valentine’s Day.

Edy Giron Ruiz stopped with his brothers at Husary’s 76 station, where Occidental Road meets the Gravenstein Highway, when he decided to scan his Maximum Million Scratchers ticket.

“When I scanned it and saw what it said, I couldn’t believe it. It was only happiness,” Ruiz said in a statement from the lottery…
