On November 14, 2024, the City of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County Library held a groundbreaking event for the Hearn Community Hub in southwest Santa Rosa. The event took place on a six-acre site in the Roseland neighborhood and marked the start of Phase One construction.
Phase One includes building a new Fire Station 8, the Roseland Regional Library, and making infrastructure improvements to increase accessibility. The fire station will be about 9,915 square feet. It will have wildland firefighting equipment and a training program for high school students interested in firefighting. The location is intended to improve emergency response in the area.
The Roseland Regional Library will have 12,475 square feet of indoor space and 3,000 square feet of outdoor space. The library will provide digital access, cultural resources, and programs for families and learners.
