The Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) in California has received a $6.8 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The funding comes from the Low or No Emission Vehicle Grant Program. NVTA will use the grant to buy six new Gillig hybrid-electric buses for its Vine Transit fleet. These 35-foot hybrid buses will replace older diesel and unleaded vehicles that have reached the end of their service life. The new buses are expected to reduce emissions in Napa County.
Antonio Onorato, NVTA’s Director of Administration, Finance, and Policy, thanked federal officials for the support. He noted that NVTA has secured over $22 million in federal grants since 2017. This funding has allowed the agency to purchase 25 new zero-emission or hybrid buses.
