On December 3, 2025, the Sonoma City Council will hold its second study session on updates to the city’s mobilehome park closure and conversion ordinance. This follows an initial meeting on November 5. The goal is to align local rules with recent changes in California law, including Assembly Bill 2782 (2020) and Senate Bill 610 (2025).
Mobilehome parks in Sonoma, such as Moon Valley, Pueblo Serena, and Sonoma Oaks, provide more than 450 affordable housing units. The new state laws require cities to provide more support for residents affected by park closures or conversions. This includes more relocation assistance, longer notice periods, and clearer requirements for showing that other housing is available.
At the December 3 meeting, city staff will present policy options for council review. Topics will include Relocation Impact Reports, notification timelines, relocation standards, appraisal requirements, and public outreach. The council will not make any formal decisions at this session. Instead, their feedback will help draft a new ordinance for review in early 2026…
