As December 2025 begins, Petaluma is holding several holiday events and activities across the city. Old Chinatown Park features the city’s largest decorated tree, with lighting provided by Sonoma Marin Arborists. Rebuilding Together Petaluma has added snowflake and light decorations to both the park and Helen Putnam Plaza. The Petaluma Downtown Association has also installed additional lights downtown.
At the downtown fountain, an interactive art piece called ‘It Takes a Village’ by Annie and Bonnie Bonani is on display. The installation invites people to donate canned goods or take items if needed. Many homes and businesses have also put up holiday lights. Residents can use the free 2025 Holiday City of Lights Driving Tour Map, available from the Petaluma Visitors Program, to find notable displays. Festive music will be broadcast on KPCA 103.3 FM and online from December 14 to 25.
The city’s latest community update also outlines several planning initiatives. The Community Development Department and City Council are working to finalize the General Plan Update, which will guide city growth for the next 20 years.
