Petaluma Man Charged with Carrying Concealed, Loaded Firearm after Traffic Stop in Santa Rosa

A routine traffic stop on Highway 101 turned into a firearms arrest for the Santa Rosa Police Department yesterday. According to their social media post, an officer pulled over a Toyota sedan around noon for a violation of the vehicle code, where an encounter unfolded that led to the discovery of concealed ammunition and a handgun. The passenger during the stop, seemingly unbidden, admitted to having ammunition in his possession, a revelation that prompted a more thorough search.

The Santa Rosa Police detailed that after the passenger’s admission, a search revealed a semi-automatic Glock 26 handgun. Hidden inside a postage box with the driver’s name on it, the firearm was not registered to either occupant of the vehicle.
