The first in a series of storms arrives during the day on New Year’s Eve, bringing warm rain to the entire region. You can see the tropical moisture moving up from the south in this water vapor satellite image. (Image 1)
The rain begins around midday Wednesday and continues through the first day of the New Year. (Image loop 2) If you’ll be out and about for New Year’s Eve, take an umbrella.

The European model shows rain arriving again on the 2nd into the 3rd, and again on the 5th into the 6th. (Images 4, 5)
Total rain from the first storm may be 1/2 to 1 inch, and from the 2nd storm, 1-3 inches. By this coming Sunday we may average 2-4 inches of rain across the North Bay. (Image 6)
