Marin County is gearing up for a significant increase in senior housing as plans for a five-story senior living facility in Strawberry have been approved. The development, located at 100 Thomas Place, will cater to an aging population, one of Marin County’s most pressing demographic needs. According to SF YIMBY, Spirit Residential Group LLC is behind the application that will bring to life a complex encompassing both independent living and assisted residential care units.
Encompassing approximately 178,460 square feet, the building is set to include 71 units for independent living and 35 for assisted living/memory care. Despite the community’s needs, critics have raised eyebrows at the plan’s omission of bicycle parking, yet the structure will accommodate a subterranean garage able to house 72 cars. SDT Architects, responsible for the design, has envisioned a structure that integrates metal panels, stucco, and wood-look siding, featuring amenities such as activity rooms, a salon, and a theater.
