Major Bay Area highway reduced to 1 lane indefinitely after storm damage

A key route along the lower Russian River in Sonoma County is restricted to one-direction traffic indefinitely after intense winter storms damaged the road.

On Monday afternoon, heavy rain caused a 40-foot section of Highway 116’s eastbound lane to erode between Duncan Road and Monte Cristo Avenue, just west of Monte Rio, Caltrans said.
