(KRON) — A climber who was stranded on a Marin County coastal cliffside after dark on Sunday was rescued by firefighters, according to the Southern Marin Fire District.
The fire district was alerted to the climber’s precarious situation at 6:39 p.m. and responded to a hillside north of Slide Ranch in Stinson Beach. Arriving firefighters located the climber 150 feet above the ground clinging to the rockface.
Crews set up a technical rope rescue system in order to safely bring the climber down to the beach. At the same time, a fireboat was staged nearby “as a secondary transport option,” fire officials said.
Fortunately, the climber could walk to Shoreline Highway to be evaluated by awaiting paramedics. They were later released at the scene…
