I’ve been fortunate over the years when it comes to my use of social media, especially as it relates to my job at KUIC: I don’t stir up trouble intentionally, so I’m rarely in any hot water over postings or comments. So, I was initially surprised at the trove of negative comments and parochial backlash posted under a recent video of myself in a section of downtown Napa, where I complimented the area then asked what I thought was an innocuous question: “Where are my ‘Napa-ites’ at?” No sooner did the post go up than the anger started to flow: “We’re called ‘Napkins,’ not ‘Napa-ites’!” “Bro, where did you come up with ‘Napa-ites’?” and so on.
