(KRON) — An adorable mountain lion cub rescued in Southern California is receiving care and rehabilitation at the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue center. The baby cougar was flown from Los Angeles to Sonoma County last week after biologists were unable to reunite the cub with her mother in the wild.
The mountain lion, estimated to be between 4 to 5 months old, was found injured and alone along a road in Castaic on Jan. 21. California Department of Fish and Wildlife biologists safely captured her in a nearby neighborhood using a net.
“Our biologists have worked hard to locate the mother of the cub, but up to this point the only mountain lion spotted in the area was a solo adult male,” a CDFW spokesperson previously told KTLA.
She joined another mountain lion cub at Sonoma County’s wildlife center, where she will remain until the cub is old enough to return to her natural habitat.
California Department of Fish & Wildlife officials wrote Tuesday, “We look forward to releasing her back to the wild.”…
