Serving Forestville and the surrounding West County area, it provides free, nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. What began as a modest, volunteer-run effort has grown into a trusted local institution grounded in dignity, compassion, and mutual aid.
The Food Closet operates through partnerships with the Redwood Empire Food Bank, local farms, Speer’s Market, and individual donors. Together, these partnerships make it possible to offer a reliable mix of shelf-stable items, fresh produce, and essential staples.
