During the first week of February, CenterCal Properties presented three opportunities for the citizens of Rohnert Park to not only learn about its initial plans for the development of the city center in downtown Rohnert Park, but also to weigh in with criticisms and recommendations about the project.
Scott Bohrer, Vice President of Development for CenterCal Properties, spoke at length about the proposed project. On easels, pictures of what the city center might look like and a map of the area gave a view of the potential arrangement of restaurants, retail businesses, a grocery store, residential areas, a hospitality center/hotel, and green areas, and parking places, which would revitalize the huge barren space between the Raley’s shopping center and the SMART Train depot.
Then he offered a feedback session. Every attendee was given a feedback submission form. This one-page sheet asked for the name and address, email and phone number, and city or section of residence. The questions were: “What types of businesses would you like to see in Downtown Rohnert Park?” as well as “What types of housing?” and “What types of events and activations would you like to see in Downtown Rohnert Park?” Finally, the sheet requested “Feedback on the overall project design and program.”…
