A Vallejo man is facing weapons and vehicle charges after what started as a routine traffic stop in American Canyon turned into a gun arrest on Monday, according to police.
Officers say they pulled over a gray Mercedes at the intersection of Eucalyptus Drive and State Route 29 for a traffic infraction and ended up finding a loaded handgun hidden in the car. The driver, identified by police as 23-year-old Christian Sandoval, was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections on a list of weapons and vehicle violations.
According to the American Canyon Police Department Facebook post, officers found a Glock 26 loaded with an extended 24-round magazine hidden in the backseat of the Mercedes after the stop.
