Two California men face felony charges

Two men from Petaluma, Calif., face felony charges after they allegedly destroyed a woolly mammoth tusk at a museum near Branson, Mo. Brett Howard, 46, and Todd Azevedo, 48, each face first-degree property damage charges, a Class E felony.

The Taney County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened late Sunday, March 8, at the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum inside the Top of the Rock attraction. Both men posted $15,000 bonds and were released.

One man climbed on the other’s shoulders

The details sound almost unbelievable. According to the probable cause statement, Azevedo waved Howard over and encouraged him to grab the tusk of a woolly mammoth fossil on display.

Azevedo then allegedly hoisted Howard onto his shoulders so he could reach it. Howard tried to hang from the tusk, authorities said…
