Sarasota arrest is ‘worst-case scenario’ for parents worried about kids chatting with adults online: police

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Sarasota Police arrested a man on felony charges after they said he used Snapchat to meet up with a minor.

Investigators said that the 15-year-old girl told the man her age in their online conversations, which went on for weeks.

“It’s not uncommon that people will meet people they don’t know on these applications,” said Amanda Morales, communications specialist for Sarasota Police. “However, he lied to the victim and said that he was 18 years old.”…
