A Lakewood Ranch High and an online-academy graduate join 14 other graduating seniors in U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan’s congressional district on their way to U.S. service academies in the fall.
Jack Crosbie and Etienne Gaillard, both of Lakewood Ranch, were among the list of 16 nominees accepted to the academies in the Florida 16th District.
Each year, members of the U.S. House and Senate nominate high school seniors in their districts and states for admission to the U.S. Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval academies. Applicants who meet strict qualifications are interviewed and recommended by a non-partisan Service Academy Board appointed by the congressman.
