Officials urge caution after Manatee County lifeguards carry out 136 rescues

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Beachgoers were urged to remain vigilant about rip currents and changing conditions after lifeguards in Manatee County conducted more than 100 rescues and preventive actions over a three-day period, county officials said Saturday.

The Manatee County Government Public Safety Department said Beach Patrol personnel responded to 136 water rescues from Wednesday through Friday as hazardous conditions developed along the shoreline. During the same period, lifeguards spotted more than 125 rip currents and made 187 proactive safety interventions aimed at preventing rescues and medical emergencies.
